Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 7, 63 scenes in, lesson complete
  • Where I am: Lesson 7, 54 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: Behind

How’s It Going:

I’m really over this lesson, ngl. I’m gonna keep working on it, but I’m also gonna prioritize moving on to the next lesson. I think I’m also gonna work on this more during the week after I come home from work. I’ve got so much going on during the weekends now that they’re my only days off, I can’t dedicate as much time to working on writing as I’d like.

I mean, hell, I’ve got another idea for a book I’ve been throwing around for a couple of years now and I really would like to start writing it. I’ve piddled around with it here and there, but I have neither the time or the spoons to work on it consistently. Not to mention the next book that needs to happen after this revision is done is the final part of the trilogy. I have enough people wanting this one as it is.

“Will you feed me and tell me I’m pretty?”

The quote is completely irrelevant, I just thought it was the funniest thing I’ve heard today.

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 7, 32 scenes in
  • Where I am: Lesson 7, 34 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

Fuck, this lesson is so tedious, still. On the bright side, I have come across a few things I’d missed that could be improved.

So, uh. Onward, I guess.

I’m brilliant…

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 6 complete
  • Where I am: Lesson 6 complete; Lesson 7, 14 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

I ran out of printer paper. 🤦🏻‍♂️ But there’s more on the way. Should be here Monday.

Lesson 6 is all about characters, which are always pretty easy for me. Getting them just right takes a little work, but I usually get pretty close to the mark first try.

If you’ve been with me for a while, you may remember Lesson 7, aka the world triage lesson that I have never finished because it’s never made sense to me. Mostly due to the fact I write in a world that’s so similar to modern day America… With a few minor tweaks. Also, it’s always annoyed the crap out of me trying to do it on notebook paper.

Well, this time I have a functioning printer, so I can actually attempt this lesson with the worksheets. We’ll see how long I last.

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 5, 63 scenes in, lesson complete
  • Where I am: Lesson 5, 63 scenes in, lesson complete; Lesson 6 started
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

There was one scene throwing me for a loop, but after scratching my head for a while and checking the forums, I think I figured it out. So Lesson 5, done.

Lesson 6 is for figuring out who is in my story and why. I already have one Not Actually Important™️ character to cut, but thankfully it’s going to be as simple as deleting one sentence. Don’t know what got into me that day.

I am so ready to dig my fingers into this damn book, ugh, it’s gonna be awesome when I’m done.

No hesitation, no delay

The new job is going super well. My coworkers are really chill and nice, the higher ups are helpful and just want me to succeed, and there’s a good balance of expectations and freedom. I’ve never been happier about coming in to a new job.

So far I don’t forsee a huge conflict with my writing, considering I will still only work Monday through Friday. But we’ll see.

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 5, 32 scenes in
  • Where I am: Lesson 5, 46 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

This lesson is a little tough. Trying to suss out the true conflict and meaning of each scene. So far no issues, at least.

I have come up with some good additions this week, ways to make some of the scenes flow together better. And I have a scene in mind that will probably get cut.

And now I’m gonna be itching to cut and add for weeks, ugh.
