Contagion, I exhale you

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 17, 30/73 scenes in
  • Where I am: Lesson 17, 15/73 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: Behind…?

How’s It Going:

Okay, so writing 3 new scenes in a row was rough, but I’m past it now and pushing forward again. I think I’m just gonna tack another week on here and go for 30 scenes next week.

I did get some good stuff this week though, stuff I was not expecting. I’m gonna make everyone who reads this cry and I’m not even sorry.

Soapbox house of cards and glass, so don’t go tossing your stones around

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 17, 15/73 scenes in
  • Where I am: Lesson 17, 10/73 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: Behind, technically

How’s It Going:

I say technically because I planned for at least 4 weeks for this. It may take 6. Maybe more.

So scene 11 is the first new scene and it is kicking my ass. I was purposely vague when I planned the scene and now that I have to actually write the thing it’s… a lot of work. I’m gonna try to finish it today, but I’ve been trying to focus for hours and I’ve gotten one page written (notebook paper, double spaced). The ADHD is strong today. The next 2 scenes are also new, so… Yeah.

This feeling is wonderful

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 16 complete
  • Where I am: Lesson 16 complete, Lesson 17, 8/73 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

Late post is late, but… It’s here.

The cut.

And I’m so stupid excited to finally start molding this thing into what it could be.

I actually started Friday night because I just couldn’t wait anymore. So far the very beginning is already pretty solid, just some minor tweaks in light of what happens later on that I’d rather keep. I once again have a killer flash-forward cold open (if not even more so than the first book 😈). Two of the main characters started out as nameless extras until I realized I liked them and they could bring a lot to the story’s conflict. So there’s a little hammering out to do personality-wise there.

The first real new scene is scene 11, so we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve opened myself enough for the world to see my guts

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 16, somewhere
  • Where I am: Lesson 16, uhh. Somewhere.
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

So this lesson is where I go through and make sure I remember everything I wanted to change. And gather all of that information into one concise place.

And since there’s really no good place to put it, this is where I’m taking the time to go back and read the first book to make sure any references to the past are solid, and any possible inconsistencies are addressed. And damn, I don’t remember a lot of things I changed in the final draft. So there’s that.

Taking my time on this one. I wanna make sure I hit everything. You know, I’ve thought once before that this really should be something I think about when I start out and add to over the course of the class, and yet here we are. smh

Time keeps moving faster and faster

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 14 complete
  • Where I am: Lesson 14 complete, Lesson 15 complete
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

They say time heals all wounds, but they also say time is a cruel mistress. I’m inclined to believe the latter.

Which I realize that going through BOTH of the time lessons in a week makes it seem like that is not the case. But now that I have a system that works, while tedious, I can make really good time on it. Not to mention I already completed the crux of Lesson 15 several lessons ago (because I am impatient).

One lesson to go before the cut now. Yes I am eager, twitchy, and absolutely itching to rip this thing a new one. Literally.
