Spoiling for a fight

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 2, 56 scenes in, lesson complete
  • Where I am: Lesson 2, 56 scenes in, lesson complete
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

It could be worse. Like, way worse.

Other than that, on to Lesson 3.

I couldn’t think of a title

Goal 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My Goal: Finish one lesson every two weeks (roughly)
  • Where I planned to be: Lesson 2, 28 scenes in
  • Where I am: Lesson 2, 30 scenes in
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:

Late post is late, but there’s not much to report. Somehow I’ve managed to figure out how to write so lean, but still have what seems like a lot of detail. Progress.

Insert sophomoric inappropriate remark here

I really have to struggle to not get cocky after the first read through. It’s stupid good; I am fully aware that it’s stupid good. But it’s not the best it could be, and it’s nowhere near done. It is a good sign that I like it, however. I mean, if I didn’t like it, who would?

Anyways, off to Lesson 2.

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy…

…But why is this song stuck in my head?

I am so happy to be working on this again. DGMW, the sci-fi is fun too, but… Madison is my baby. Even if that one scene about his dad makes me cry every damn time I read it.

I was smart this time; I counted my scenes and figured out the math before I jumped in and just picked a random number of scenes to do per day and ran with it. Go me. So far I’m really happy with how it’s turned out. There’s definitely some kinks to work out, but I think revising this is gonna be cake compared to the last two. Hell, with just what I already think I’ll need to add, I might end up with a 50k book after all. /wishful thinking

That being said, Lesson 1 doesn’t always reveal every problem right away, as I discovered with SYCU. But that’s what the rest of the course is for. 😆

Light ’em up

It’s officially day two of 2022, and I totally meant to make a post yesterday but I never finished it. 😔 I’m going to blame sick brain because Chris and I are stuck at home with the ‘rona. (Why do I always get sick around Christmas/New Year’s?)

The good news is, I started Lesson 1 of Holly Lisle’s How To Revise Your Novel with TAP 2 yesterday and read through 10 scenes today.

So, on to the goal!

GOAL 1) Revise TAP 2

  • My clear target is: Revise TAP 2 (final title pending)
  • My reachable deadline is: December 31, 2022
  • My working days are: Fri-Sun
  • My method of measuring progress: Scenes, page count, and lessons
  • My end goal: Have a revised novel ready for content edit
  • My daily goal, and number of available days: Depends on the lesson, roughly two weeks per lesson, 3 days a week
  • My leverage — WHY I need to do this: Gotta deliver on my promise of a sequel, amirite?
