Hold my breath as I wish for death

Vacation is over, I’ve given the draft time to breathe, and now the time has come to revise.

GOAL 1) REVISE BM&A3

  • My clear target is: Revise BM&A3 (final title pending)
  • My reachable deadline is: August 25, 2025
  • My working days are: Sun-Tues
  • My method of measuring progress: Scenes, page count, and lessons
  • My end goal: Have a revised novel ready for content edit
  • My daily goal, and number of available days: Depends on the lesson, roughly two weeks per lesson, 3 days a week
  • My leverage — WHY I need to do this: Andrew will hound me until I finish I have to finish Madison’s story.

‘Bout to start in on reading the thing in its entirety for the first time. Wish me luck…or, you know, pray for me. Either one works.

You can stand under my umbrella

Goal 1) Write BM&A3

  • My Goal: 500 WPD, 1500 WPW
  • Where I planned to be: Further than this
  • Where I am: 39172 words
  • On Target or Behind: I think done, either way

How’s It Going:
Not so hot, you guys. I think it’s time to call it. Despite going through the gist of what I have and trying to organize it, I just can’t see what else I need. But I have a fairly healthy chunk of writing here with a beginning, an end, and at least most of a middle, so I’ll let it cool off for a while then come back later and start the revision.

It can only get better from here.

I want to give myself at least a month to let my brain relax (at least from this story), but I’m not sure yet if I want to start the revision ASAP or give myself a longer break. May depend on what I decide to do in the meantime.

“How do you saddle a fart?”

Goal 1) Write BM&A3

  • My Goal: 500 WPD, 1500 WPW
  • Where I planned to be: -big sigh-
  • Where I am: 38,033 words
  • On Target or Behind: -bigger sigh-

How’s It Going:
Not great, apparently. I keep forgetting to post. And on top of everything, I’ve been having nerve pain in my left arm for a couple of months now and it just makes existing painful, so there’s that.

I was really struggling the week after my last post, then the next week I was considering just calling it, but I got to talking to Andrew at work and I had a brilliant but horrible idea that realistically didn’t add much to the word count. Then an even better idea combined with the realization I hadn’t finished the finale at least pushed me a little further.

Last week I tried to (better) organize what I already have, because I know I’m missing stuff in the middle of the story, but I’ve been having trouble pinpointing what. That’s kind of the fun part of writing a story; it’s complete in my head, but not on the page (or screen, at this point), and I can’t remember what I’ve written and what I haven’t. It becomes painfully obvious during revision, but that’s also a different process. I don’t want to comingle the two right now. TL;DR, I didn’t write much.

I did get my words for today (despite getting distracted by how ridiculous seafood prices can be), and have a good scene going now that may chew up tomorrow’s words too. But I swear if I don’t post something now, I am just going to keep being a trash can.

Bees? BEES!

Goal 1) Write BM&A3

  • My Goal: 500 WPD, 1500 WPW
  • Where I planned to be: 33,500 words
  • Where I am: 33,535 words
  • On Target or Behind: On Target

How’s It Going:
…eeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I imagine this is what it feels like to jump into a frozen lake naked: breathtakingly painful, panic-inducing, and absolutely 100% batshit insane.
